In line with my owl drawing yesterday Claire Watson Garcia, from Drawing for the Absolute & Utter Beginner, asked me to do another upside-down drawing today. I don't really mind this as I need to bring myself back to achieving the particular artistic mind-state of seeing without interpreting. This subject proved a little more challenging than the very simple outline from before:
Compare to how the picture looked in the book (bearing in mind that it's printed upside-down):
Once again I feel that my copying skills have proved up to the task although my owl looks a little stretched, compared to the original, and the legs don't look quite as sturdy. Nevertheless it's instructive to see how faithfully a beginner like myself can reproduce another picture when the environment is manipulated to make this the easier path to follow.
