Another essential item when camping (if you're British at least) is a kettle for your morning cuppa; otherwise it's barely worth getting out of bed. The shape of one these is also pretty iconic with its curved body and handle mated to a spout and whistle; a timeless classic and well worth sketching:
Intentionally I fancied sticking with a pure contour line style today - it being far more important to observe and illustrate the shape of the kettle than its shading in my view. The nice part about this process is that it allows you to be a little abstract and to look at the object as a collection of intersecting lines more than anything else. So I worked on the shape of the body, how the handle related to this and finally spent a lot of time trying to get the spout and its cap just right:
Personally I'm very happy with the result as none of the lines shout out that they're wrong and need to be adjusted - which in itself is an achievement for me. The spout I'm especially happy with as there's a reasonable amount of detail in the mechanism and I do have a tendency to draw things face on (even when they're at an angle). Obviously there's no context here, or sense of dimension, but I can live with that as what I don't want to do is take the risk of ruining a decent result with more detail than it requires!
